This post is rated CAUTION for language. There was a familiar theme to Tomie’s comments as we drove through New London in December. He didn’t like the burgundy/deep red bows on Christmas wreaths on businesses and homes. He pointed out other “questionable” decorating choices, but that day’s main topic was burgundy bows. A BIG no. He suggested that he write a letter to the editor [of the local, weekly newspaper] to air New London’s Christmas decorating misses. I said he should consider instead a weekly column in the newspaper called “What’s Tomie Bitchin’ About?” He rejected my idea of guest columnists as he knew he had plenty of material for a weekly column. I then told him it was unfair to limit his thoughts to our area. He needed to share his issues with the world via a daily email newsletter or a daily blog posting. As we continued driving, he warmed to the idea. I said, “That way, folks can wake in the morning, open their eyes, sit up in bed, and their very first thought of the day will be, ‘Hmmm… I wonder what Tomie’s bitchin’ about today.’” (Bob)

Tomie’s mother loved geraniums, so Tomie loved geraniums. But, there were rules: no white, no deep red, predominantly orange/red ones. The geraniums bed got planted today before, in between, and after rain showers. (Bob)
