REMEMBERING TOMIE on November 21, 2020

Doug, Tomie’s agent, and I were talking yesterday during our regular Friday phone call and invariably weather was discussed. We veered toward the discussion of power outages. I know, stirring stuff.

I mentioned that Tomie had to decide what would be powered by the generator during a loss of electricity. Doug was amused that Tomie had chosen not to put his studio on the generator power network.

The power would go out and Tomie would be, “Oh, shucks, I can’t work.”

The computer at which he did online shopping was powered 24/7, no matter the storm.

We had a good chuckle thinking of Tomie’s choices. (Bob)

An Orderly Transition would be nice, too.

REMEMBERING TOMIE on November 19, 2020

Lauren Nadler was an art and design student of Tomie’s at New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, in the 1970s.

Her newest illustrated children’s book, I KNOW YOU AND…, by Dr. Christina Sally, was just published.

Tomie saw proofs of the book earlier in the year and wrote: “This former student of mine’s dream has come true in ‘spades.’ Kuddos to you, Lauren! Great design, charming sea creatures and a wonderful underwater setting!! I love it!” (Bob)
