1965. Tomie and his aunt, Viva Downey, at 26 Fairmount Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut. You can see one of Tomie’s paintings in the background by the clock.
Viva was married to Tomie’s mother’s brother, Charles.
Because the words “Uncle Charles and his girlfriend, Viva” were often in Tomie’s books, children would write and ask, “Did Uncle Charles and Viva ever get married?” (Bob)
