Today is National Spaghetti Day. Tomie was especially fond of spaghetti with garlic and oil.
Rhalee Hughes Perry, former publicity director at Penguin Young Readers, sent a link to an article in NEW YORK magazine that she thought Tomie would have enjoyed about a bucatini shortage.

Rhalee also sent a link to the Twitter page of the article’s author, Rachel Handler, to see her use of a Strega Nona illustration.

An Orderly Transition would be nice, too.

It’s National Fruitcake Toss Day today which brings back memories of the yearly fruitcake competition between friendly archrivals, Jennette and Stephanie, of Vancouver.
The women would send their fruitcakes to Tomie each December and Tomie would gather together impartial judges to determine the best of the fruitcakes.
The judges in this photo were Tony, Fraser, and Jenny from Australia. They’re holding scores for the winning fruitcake.
We never celebrated Fruitcake Toss Day with Jennette and Stephanie’s fruitcakes. (Bob)
