The Pierce family drove from Indiana to meet Tomie at the 2011 Book Author Luncheon sponsored by the Greater Meriden (Connecticut) Branch of the American Association of University Women. They arrived in traveling clothes and snuck into the restrooms to change into luncheon clothes. They traveled to New London the next summer to have lunch with Tomie at a local restaurant. Just one story of hundreds of stories of parents trying their best to make Tomie’s books and learning come alive for their children. (Bob) Pray for Peace, Justice, and Equality
